‘’There is a conditioning reflex known as the" dancing monkey". A monkey is locked in a room with a sheet floor, music sounds and the sheet is heated or given electricity so the monkey begins to lift the feet and jump. That makes it look as if the monkey is dancing. Repeated after a while, when the music is played but the floor not activated, the monkey retains the reflex to move. The result of this method is the monkey "dances".
There is music and the monkey moves, but dancing for us means another thing. One thing is clear here about the ethics of process and the results we want to achieve, for some of us there is a difference between dancing and raising of the legs.
We want therefore, that our horses express grace and harmony in their movements, happiness and delight. Can one reduced being do that? How could we think that we are going to achieve it through pain and submission? We have only the mimic, the dryness of the empty gesture, the same vacuum movements accomplished through any method of pressure. Suffice sample is to contemplate any Olympic competition or training, where horses under a hypnotic state of constant pain display forced and lack of life movements that everyone applauds.
And so conditioned is our gaze, so confused the heart, that we see grace and dance as a poor animal forced and conditioned, raises her legs. Where can only been seen disgrace.’’
